THE SCRAPBOX was the first scrapbooking store in Cape Town and was started by myself, Irene Du Toit, in 2000. The business started with a capital of R1500 and stock in a briefcase, and holding classes in libraries and schools. It grew until eventually I set up a shop in my garage. I was holding down a full-time job and teaching in the evenings at the time, and when I was retrenched, decided to put everything into the shop as it was growing too rapidly for me to continue on a part-time basis. After three years of packing and unpacking the shop daily in order to get my car into the garage at night, I made the decision to build a comfortable purpose-built addition to my home to house the shop.. This decision was made after much deliberation about whether to move into a retail centre or not. I decided on a home store as my regular customers enjoyed the homeliness and friendliness of their "home away from home".

THE SCRAPBOX is a place where you can shop for the latest scrapbook products while enjoying a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Workshops and classes include a cup of tea or coffee in a sociable atmosphere. Classes take place in the mornings and some evenings.

Our aim is for you to gain confidence in your abilities and creativity while guiding you through the basics of the craft and giving you advice on paper choices, techniques and designs. We don't want all our clients' albums to look the same : we want your album to have your own personal stamp. We have "Inspiration " pages on a regular basis. These are layouts which you can copy using your own choice of papers and theme, allowing you to make the project your own. We also have many "off-the-page" projects for you to enjoy. THE SCRAPBOX works hard at organising special events enabling you to experience different teachers from different parts of the country, different styles and to learn more about all aspects of scrapbooking such as photography.
